Mike's Media website was a huge endeavor for myself to test my programming skills and abilities, and at the same time learn and implement new technologies — while producing something useful in the end. It is a fully functional media website platform to browse, discover, and stream movies and TV series. Other functionality includes the ability to request new additions and Plex access as a user, as an administrator it incorporates a fully functional administration panel, that controls every facet of the website. The technologies used to develop this website are various scripting and programming languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (JS)/jQuery mixture, and MySQL for the databases.
Mike's Media Home
On the home page of Mike's Media you have everything presented to you to get going right away without having to second guess where to go. From the top header navigation presenting key areas of interest such as how to get watching now on various devices, to where to request new additions to the line up of available media, and also your personal account information.
Search, Sort & Browse
Search, sort, and browse movies and TV series, as you type it auto-populates what is available on the media database, want to go broader in terms of search? There is also the ability to do genre searches, all while being able to sort the data however you wish.
Interactive Web-Based Media Player
The web-based media player is what enables you the ability to stream and watch whatever you choose to your browser. Even by navigating to the page of a movie or TV series and particular show, it is not yet logged into your recently watched on your account until you hit the play button, thus keeping accurate results.
The Administration Panel
The administration panel of the media website is a fully comprehensive system that controls every facet of what the user see's and engages with. Some, but not all functionality it includes is: Media management (Create, Read, Update, and Delete) of files in single and bulk fashion, series creation, page content, and user management.
